Project Details
Together with Verena of Glass Maker Space, we produced "The Way of Glass", a short documentary exploring human craft, creativity, and the people behind a tradition slowly fading from view. The film was built to make the viewer feel something rather than be told something. A quiet, emotional piece about an art form on the edge of extinction.
Production was kept intentionally small and focused, with one and a half days of filming inside Verena's studio.
Scope of Work
Concept & Direction
A three act structure was developed to move the viewer through three distinct worlds before letting them arrive at the core message on their own. The intent was to lead with feeling, not explanation.
Cinematography
Captured across one and a half days inside the working studio, with attention given to both the technical detail of the craft and the quieter moments surrounding it. Hands, fire, breath, and concentration carry the visual weight of the piece.
Color & Edit
The 3 to 4 minute film leans into a cool, contrast heavy grade that mirrors the loneliness of a craft slowly disappearing. Sound design and pacing were treated as core storytelling tools rather than supporting elements.
The Result
A short documentary built to honour the people, time, and skill behind a vanishing art form. A piece that allows its message to land through atmosphere rather than words.
